PM Netanyahu to Meet with President Trump and Putin in Coming Weeks

Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to travel to Washington in early March to attend AIPAC’s annual policy conference.

Officials from Israel and the US are working to schedule a date for a meeting in early March between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump when Netanyahu travels to Washington. This meeting will take place when Netanyahu attends the AIPAC’s annual policy conference, an Israeli diplomatic official stated on Thursday.

The AIPAC Policy Conference is the pro-Israel community’s preeminent annual gathering. The event attracts more than 18,000 community and student activists from all 50 states, and more than half of the Senate, a third of the House of Representatives and countless Israeli and American policymakers and thought leaders. Over three jam-packed days, Policy Conference participants choose from hundreds of informative sessions and participate in the pro-Israel community’s largest and most important advocacy day.

Netanyahu referenced the upcoming meeting during a speech at the Globes Business Conference in Jerusalem. He said he will meet with Trump in Washington in March, if not before then. This would be their first meeting since September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.

Diplomatic officials said there is a possibility the two leaders could meet at the Davos Economic Summit later this month, which both are scheduled to attend. However, nothing final has been set up between the two leaders.

Netanyahu, is also going to India Sunday for meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is reported he has a meeting scheduled with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming weeks. Referring to the planned upcoming meetings, Netanyahu stated, “In the coming weeks I will meet with the leaders of three of the four strongest countries in the world.”

“This is a testament to Israel’s diplomatic stature and strength,” he said, “which flows from the country’s economic and military strength.”
